RISHTON KNIT AND NATTER RAISES OVER £1,100

Rishton's Knit and Natter group have given themselves a well-deserved pat on the back after donating £1,150 to charities in the past year, many of which are local or have some significance to members of the group.

The donations to various charities are as follows:
  • Air Ambulance North West £100
  • Cancer Research UK £100
  • The Chemotherapy unit at The Royal Blackburn £100
  • East Lancs Hospice £150
  • Rishton Peoples Centre £100
  • The Dialysis Unit Preston, Derian House £200 (£100 in Memory of the late Jennifer Cooper)
  • Manchester Children's Hospital £100
  • Tiffany Wrigley £100
  • Alder Hey Childrens Hospital £100

These sums were raised via their stall at the festival, sale of wool donations and the surplus left from the tea and coffee donations by the members of the group.

Devout knitter Janis Counsell said, "Not too shabby eh? The group is free to join but we ask for a 50p donation for brews and biccies. It is always well attended but we still have room for a few more members, every Tuesday in Rishton Library from 9.30am till 3.00pm."
