FESTIVAL COMMITTEE - 18th JUNE 2015

Preparations are in full swing for the Rishton Festival, now in its 12th year, and the next committee meeting will take place on Thursday 18th June at 7.00pm in The People's Centre.

Christine Hammerton said, "We are hoping for even bigger numbers this year and hope everyone on the day will embrace this year’s theme of 'Stars In Their Eyes'. People can dress up as a star like Michael Jackson or Tina Turner and if the stallholders want they could have figures or cut-outs next to their stalls."

She added, "It was a brilliant day again last year with a great turnout and the weather was fantastic. We are hoping for the same again this year and for lots of people to dress up and join in the fun.”

The festival will be held on Saturday July 4th and will start off with a parade from Rishton train station to Norden High School. For a third year running visitors will also be able to enjoy a beer and cider tent. The festival will also include demonstrations for Active Women, birds of prey, bouncy castles and more than 30 stalls.

The committee have funded the festival through numerous bingo sessions and lunches in recent months.
However, they are now appealing for people to help on the day as marshals and anyone who is able to help or wants to book a last-minute stall can contact Malcolm Ward on 07801 056945.
