COUNTY COUNCILLORS AGAINST PCSO CUTS

The annual Lancashire County Council budget meeting was held on Thursday 8th February at County Hall in Preston and the Labour group tabled an amendment to redirect funds in order to prevent cuts to neighbourhood policing.

Rishton County Councillor Jenny Molineux made a plea to the Conservative Administration at LCC not to go through with the cuts to funding 17 Police Community Support Officers (PCSOs) and to support the Labour amendment.

County Councillor Miles Parkinson said, "It's disappointing that the amendment was voted down. Labour felt that policing should be prioritised and cuts could have been made in other areas instead.  PCSOs help support our Neighbourhood Watch schemes and go some way to making our residents feel safer."
