The Piggy Park Community Garden Association are holding a volunteer day to fill the final raised beds in the growing areas with soil and compost. Piggy Park is situated behind Devonshire Road in Rishton and many years ago was a play area but has long since been decommissioned as the equipment had come to the end of its life. It has now been resurrected by a community group as a growing area for other groups and Rishton schools to use.
Cllr Jeff Scales, who has been instrumental in transforming the disused park, said, "It woud be great if we could get as many volunteers as possible to join us on Saturday 17th February at 10.00am. The more people we have the quicker it will be and take comfort that this will be the last one of it's kind!"
